Ever since 1940, the medical students of Oxford University have been distracting themselves from the arduous slog of exams and ward rounds by creating the annual comic, raucous and musical extravaganza that is the Tingewick Society Christmas pantomime. With a cast of over one hundred actors, singers and dancers and a production team of twenty-seven writers, choreographers and musicians, Tingewick represents the largest dramatic undertaking at the University of Oxford entertaining 2000 guests over the four performance nights.
The Tingewick Pantomime cast is drawn from the summer’s Clinical School intake. That’s all the new 4th year Medical Students and 2nd year Graduate Entry Medics. We take all comers at all levels – singers, dancers, actors, musicians, bit-part-players… we’ll find a role for everyone, just like the school nativity play. All we ask is that you turn up on the night and try not to steal any scenery. Oh, and that you have fun getting to know your new and future colleagues!
Once the dust has settled, the donations have been tallied, and the jubillant Director has been thrown in the river like a victorious cox, the entire Pantomime cast will vote on the new Producer, Director and Treasurer, who then appoint the next year’s Tingewick Firm.
Whether you’re in the show or not, everyone is warmly welcome to our delightful ENTZ that run throughout the year…
