The Medical Defence Union

The MDU is a mutual, non-profit organisation, owned by our members – doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals. Established in 1885, the MDU was the first medical defence organisation in the UK and has led the way since. We are committed to supporting the education and career development of medical students and doctors. We provide members with medico-legal and ethical advice, as well as expert defence if their clinical performance is called into question.
Student membership is free and offers a range of benefits including discounts on medical text books, sponsorship of student events and elective support with exclusive access to The Elective Network.
As an F1 member you can rest assured that you have access to the very best support including:
• Contractual insurance* with the additional support and flexibility of the discretionary benefits of a mutual
• Our 24-hour freephone advisory helpline, manned by doctors offering you expert medico-legal and ethical advice whenever you need it
• Member-only sections of the-mdu.com containing case histories, medico-legal advice and publications

Are you interested in the exciting opportunity of raising money for charities, whilst also gaining advertising, media exposure and an association with Oxford Doctors and medical students?
The Tingewick Society is the premier University of Oxford Medical School charity – would you consider becoming one of our sponsors? Tingewick organises fundraising events throughout the year culminating in a four-night pantomime performance with 1,800 guests. This year we are supporting two charities: Oxford Homeless Pathways and Searight Hospital, Calcutta (for info on these charities please click here)
Tingewick involves a series of fundraising events that will be held across Oxford from March 2011 culminating in our pantomime in December. To successfully put on the pantomime we need to raise over £6,000 to cover production costs. In return, becoming a Tingewick sponsor provides several appealing opportunities:
• Access to every medical student in Oxford University and Doctors in the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust – a figure well exceeding 3000 potential clients
• Marketing in all promotional material, which includes emails, posters, events and website
• Supporting a charitable cause
• We are one of the largest and most prominent Medical societies in Oxford
If you’re interested, please email us at sponsorship@tingewick.org and we’ll send you our short sponsorship proposal. We have a variety of sponsorship packages available, all offering considerable media exposure, and your support of this innovative student-led social entrepreneurship project will raise your company profile among Doctors and medical students in Oxford.
We hope that you will consider a small investment in something that will make a big difference! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email us on sponsorship@tingewick.org, or call us 0774903169. Thank you for your time, and we hope to hear from you soon.
